Having found CrossFit after a decade of hitting the weights and running at the gym, Brian hasn’t looked back.  He always says CrossFit makes you a better human being physically, mentally and emotionally and is passionate about everything he does.  When he found CrossFit it was a “Lightbulb” moment and he knew he had to share it with the world.  His biggest assets are his leadership and motivation skills.  Three passions in life are Nutrition, Fitness, and Pitbulls.

CrossFit Illumine is a direct reflection of his philosophy on Fitness and Life in general.  He teaches people about the big picture, longevity and taking risks.

    • You walk into the box and you can’t miss her! She’ll usually be the one with the crazy colored hair going back to basics and coaching athletes towards building a solid base before adding speed, load, and intensity. A lover of movement and all that is technical, she found beauty in the complexity of the lifts and naturally gravitated towards weightlifting. She is passionate about teaching athletes to be better movers and to ensure longevity to all in the sport we love, CrossFit, and in day to day living.

    • CrossFit Trainer L1
    • USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach
      • Donny has been enthusiastic about sports and fitness since he was a little kid. Whether it was baseball, basketball, football or wrestling, he was always on the move. For almost 20 years he could be found at the typical globo gym when he wasn’t working. After the birth of his daughter (and gaining 35 lbs.), he realized that a drastic change was needed.  He wanted to be fit and healthy for his family. Coach Brian convinced him to try CrossFit in February of 2013 and he hasn’t looked back since. Under the fearless leadership of Brian and Char, Donny left corporate America to purse his passion; helping others achieve their goals not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.  He strives to inspire the Illumine community to simply move better and live longer.

      • CrossFit Trainer L1
      • Spartan SGX Coach
      • RKC Kettlebell Instructor
        • Dave grew up playing sports and has always had a passion for athletics and competition… CrossFit was that perfect outlet to get a great workout in while pushing himself and others to be the best version of themselves. Getting people to move safely and efficiently is his main priority while coaching his classes. CrossFit is a great workout and lifestyle but Dave continues to stress the fact that this is supposed to be FUN and that’s why he will usually be seen dancing or doing handstands randomly with athletes He’s been doing CrossFit for over 3 years now and has coached for 2 and a half years. His attention to detail and experience has made for an effective coaching style that will keep our athletes safe, moving well and having a blast while doing so.

Dave coaches our regular classes, takes a leading role in 1:1 Coaching and Onramp and is the head of our Speed and Agility Program.

        Shilpi Chona

        Coach

        • CrossFit Trainer L1
        • CrossFit Kids Trainer
        • First Aid/CPR

Shilpi graduated from Loyola University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then went for her Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. Healthcare has always been a big part of Shilpi’s life. Shilpi was a long distance runner in high school and realized that there is more to life than just running. After years of injury, knee pain and shin splints, she needed to do something different. She randomly found out about CrossFit and decided to try it out. She has been cross fitting for about 4 years now and it has become a great passion of hers. She believes Crossfit is a metaphor for all other aspects of life. It is definitely something she feels needs to be experienced more than talked about. Crossfit is not only a great type of workout; but a community of people who all have the same bottom goal. Shilpi received her level 1 Trainer Certification in the fall of 2012 and four months later, completed her Crossfit Kids Certification. She is one of the head coaches for Crossfit Illumines Kids and Pre-Teen program. Nothing makes her happier than being a great leader and having a strong impact on kids and younger adults.

There are many long lasting benefits of doing Crossfit at any age, both physically and mentally. She hopes that she can spread her knowledge and demonstrate how fitness and fun go hand in hand!

        Grace Herrera

        Grace Herrera

        Spark Program Co-Director

        • CrossFit Trainer L1

Grace started CrossFit at 40 years old and developed an immediate passion for the sport. After years of trying to keep active and failing at consistency, she felt reborn! The constantly varied movements kept it exciting and fun, while her body and mind were challenged in a safe environment. Not only did she feel her best after having 3 children, but her progressions and gains physically and mentally were exhilarating and liberating. Her passion has grown deeper and now dedicates herself to helping people of all ages gain confidence and realize their inner athlete (physically/mentally) by achieving their fitness goals and healthy lifestyle. From a varied sports background (gymnastics, basketball, soccer, dance, softball, football, taekwando, aerobics), she has learned and truly believes that incorporating the functional fitness methodology of CrossFit into your life is the key to maintaining consistency, safety and longevity. Grace looks forward everyday to continuing her CrossFit journey and sharing it with new athletes, the Illumine fitfam, her husband and kids.

        Kristin Ciarrachi

        Spark Program Co-Director

        • CF L-1
        • NASM-CPT and CES certified
        • BA from Elmhurst College

Kristin was raised knowing the importance of keeping your body (and mind) healthy, active, fit and strong. Her mom played a major role in contributing an influence on Kristin’s love for fitness from a very young age. Kristin’s love for whole body health and fitness started at the gym her mother trained and coached at as she colored many coloring books and helped “work” the front desk and never left her side.

Kristin loves all things active – the more challenging the better! She’s also a huge fan of the outdoors – having hiked one of Colorado’s 14’ners, completing several Sprint Tri’s, and most recently her first Apple Cider Century ride. “It’s no secret I love many outdoor activities but I also love my time in the gym – from yoga, CF, HIIT, barbells, swimming and everything in between. Throughout the years I sought advice from several PT’s to better guide me with form, mechanics, performance, nutrition, etc. I learned a lot of helpful and valuable information in the process and always thought it’d be awesome to do the same for others. Kristin loves to help others, listen, motivate, support and encourage. Her faith plays a critical role in her everyday life as well. She holds a BA from Elmhurst College, is NASM-CPT and CES certified
