It’s the first day of a New Year! Spending time to reflect on the year that has passed along with our hope for the year to come can be motivating. It can also set you up for a year of successes. Want to set your year up for bright spot after bright spot? Follow these steps!
Step 1: Pick one specific change to focus on in 2018. We often get overwhelmed by focusing on the end result or trying to change too much at once. Achieving bright spots comes when we set smaller achievable goals that snowball into larger end results.
Step 2: Make sure you have a way to measure success. Whether you want eat healthier, go to the gym more, shop less…make sure you define what “more” or “less” means for you. Additionally, make more and less manageable, and give yourself a timeline.
Step 3: Add instead of taking away. Focusing on more instead of less of anything sets us up mentally for a positive outcome. Instead of shopping less, stay home more. Instead of eating less sweets, consume more veggies.
Step 4: Pick one habit to focus on in 2018. We often get overwhelmed by focusing on the end result or trying to change too much at once. Achieving bright spots comes when we set smaller achievable goals that snowball into larger end results.
Step 5: Remind yourself before bed of at least ONE thing you did right that day. You must focus on the positive things you are doing to give you the motivation and confidence to continue.
